Last week's heavy snowfall in the Kashmir Valley caused major damage to the infrastructure of the electricity department. According to an estimate, the electricity department has incurred a loss of 100 crores.

According to the officials of the department, only 80 percent power has been restored in the valley by working day and night. The power department claims that the department is ready to meet any weather challenge.

Normal life was severely affected by the heavy snowfall in the Kashmir Valley on 7 November. This also caused significant damage to the power infrastructure in Kashmir. During this time 700 transformers and more than 6000 electric poles were damaged. 690 transformers that supply power to residential areas were damaged. There are more than 29 thousand transformers installed in Kashmir.
